About the Club
Chalfont Park Canoe Club was founded in 1952 by members of the canoe club of a research establishment at Chalfont Park, Buckinghamshire. Our home now, as it has been since 1953, is below Hambleden Weir, near Henley-on-Thames. Although primarily a Whitewater club there has also been a strong interest in Slalom, Marathon and Long distance racing with some notable results in the Devizes to Westminster race. For many years we provided at least one member of the British team from our number and we are very pleased that we had the once World Champion, Paul Farrant as a very active member until his tragic death. Club
members have also organised and taken part in major expeditions all over the
World. Pakistan, Chile, Costa Rica The Grand Canyon, Austria, The French Alps and British
Columbia have all been the destination for expeditions.
The Club meets on Sunday mornings throughout the year from about 10.30, and also on a Wednesday evening from 18.00 throughout the summer. Club members are free to use the facilities at any time. 2002 was the Club's 50th year and we are looking forward to the next 50 years being as successful as the first. Chalfont Park Canoe Club is unique in having had two Olympic C1 paddlers and the first British Slalom World Champion. Paddling at Chalfont Park.Organised Club days are Sundays throughout the year and Wednesday evenings
during the summer. Weir.Since the E.A. work in 2002 to install underwater ramps just below the main sluices this section once again has excellent whitewater for canoeing. The radial sluices still continue to provide white-water suitable for Slalom training or play boating. LD.The club has three "time trial" circuits that are used for training
Recreational. The club is ideally situated for all types of recreational paddling.
The club has a long history of which we are very proud, read the notable events here. Like More information? click here and we will post you more information. Like to join? click here and apply on line. Click here for a map of where we are.
