WEIR MODIFICATIONS
We have proposed a number of modifications to the EA that would improve the use of the ramps in the weir. We are now waiting for them to do the rounds of all the relevant departments within the EA before the official go ahead. The major modifications are detailed below.

RAMP ANGLE GAUGES - These will enable the exact angle of the moveable section to be measured, it wont make any difference to the water but at least we will be able to tell if the ramps are fully elevated.

NON-VENTING VALVES - These will enable the ramps to remain at the position they have been set after the air supply has been removed.

COMPRESSOR - We have proposed the permanent installation of a compressor to supply the air for the ramps, this will do away with the requirement for the high pressure air cylinder and will solve some of the Health and Safety issues.

CONTROL SYSTEM - The non-venting valves and compressor will require a control system and a new housing on the weir.

RAMP  OPERATORS - We have contacted all of the local Canoe Clubs to see if they would like to nominate any of their members to be trained to use the ramps.
